A kaleidoscope of color and culture clash humorously as an Indian family in London tries to raise their soccer-playing daughter in a traditional way.

Unlike tarty elder sister, Pinky, who is preparing for an Indian wedding and a lifetime of cooking the perfect chapatti, Jess' dream is to play soccer professionally like her hero David Beckham.

Wholeheartedly against Jess' unorthodox ambition, her parents eventually reveal that their reservations have more to do with protecting her than with holding her back.

When Jess is forced to make a choice between tradition and her beloved sport, her family must decide whether to let her chase her dream...and a soccer ball.

One of the characters, Tony (Ameet Chana), is gay. He is the best male friend of Jess (Parminder Nagra).

Jule's mom (Jess's best friend) believes her daughter to be involved romantically with Jess and later on confronts her on the issue during Jess's sister's wedding.

It shows how some parents take their children being lesbian in a bad light, in dissapointment.

THIS MOVIE ROCKS. It has a lot of meaning and the small piece of lesbian theme ("being lesbian isn't that big of a deal") to quote from one of the characters (Jules), helps reinforce acceptance and openess, I reccommend this movie to any one and every one especially soccer fans!
