Daniel Hillard is a struggling father who loses his job in which he does "voices" for a cartoon. When he throws a surprise birthday party for his son, Chris, everything takes a turn for the worst. Daniel's wife, Miranda, has had it with Daniel and wants a divorce. When the divorce hearings arrive, Daniel is denied custody of the children, but is allowed visitations. |
Seeing his children once a week isn't enough, so Daniel pretends to be Mrs. Doubtfire, an old woman who is hired as the Hillard's housekeeper. Daniel's act turns out to be too good, however, and leads to disastrous consequences. |
Frank Hillard is Daniel's gay brother who lives together with his lover in San Francisco. He is a make-up artist who transfers Daniel into Mrs. Doubtfire. |
|
A very nice movie for everyone. After a little while you forget Mrs. Doubtfire is actually a man. She becomes a real character and that is all to the acting talents of Robin Williams. |
The dialogues are very well written. The gay brother and his lover are portraid as part of the family without any hangups, troubles or whatever. A definite must see! |
Mrs. Doubtfire: My first day as a woman and I am already having hot flashes.
Natalie: We're his goddamn kids too.
Cop: Ma'am, are you aware that it's against the law to possess animals of a barnyard nature in a residential area?
Miranda: Mrs. Doubtfire!
Mrs. Doubtfire: Can you help me with something, I found this outside. Daniel: Ever wish you could freeze frame a moment in your day, and look at it and say "this is not my life"?
[The kid's find out their father is Mrs. Doubtfire] |
Daniel: Could you make me a woman?
Daniel: Not working. Need to grow older.
[Frank on the phone with his mom. He gets side tracked by Aunt Jacks mask he's making.]
Daniel: Hello, my name is Ilsa Immelmann. And I want to know, how many children do you have? Daniel: As in the words of Porky pig, pi pi pi pi piss off Lou!
