Five gay men, out to make over the world — one straight guy at a time. They are the Fab Five: an elite team of gay men dedicated to extolling the simple virtues of style, taste and class. Each week their mission is to transform a style-deficient and culture-deprived straight man from drab to fab in each of their respective categories: fashion, food & wine, interior design, grooming and culture. It's a full lifestyle make-over — a make better show where straight guys turn in their pleats for flat fronts, learn about wines that don’t come in a jug and come to understand why hand soap is not a good shampoo (and vice versa). When the journey is done, a freshly scrubbed, newly enlightened, ultra hip man emerges. Grooming Guru Kyan Douglas, Food & Wine Connoisseur Ted Allen, Fashion Savant Carson Kressley, Culture Vulture Jai Rodriguez and Design Doctor Thom Filicia take turns transforming a nervous and unsuspecting straight man into a stylistic wonder.

Despite fears that the "Fab Five" attempt to "convert" straight men, it is quite the opposite. Their mission is to fit the culture and look of the gay man into a straight man's environment. For example, in Episode 101 the guys set out to prepare starving artist Brian "Butch" S., who hadn't cut his hair in nine years, for his first art gallery opening. Grooming Guru, Kyan Douglas eagerly presses Brian to "do something with that hair!" Kyan wasn't surprised one bit that Brian didn't have much luck in the dating department. Gay and straight men and women can learn a thing or two from "Queer Eye" and will have a good time in the process. This show merges the stereotypes of both the gay and straight cultures into one common goal: self respect, a good image and killer style. Check out "Queer Eye For The Straight Guy" Tuesdays at 10pm EST on the Bravo Network. |

I just admit... I am "addicted" to this show! When I first saw the previews, I thought, OH NO! **another** Reality TV show!... but I was wrong! The show is heart warming, and it mixes comedy, fashio, decorating and all! There are "tips" for everything... and each episode is unique, and it is NOT a continual-thread RTV show. Each episode is unique... so far the Episode "A Little Bit Country" has hit me the best... Also ther episode with "straight man" "Tom" was terrific! |
According to some sources... "Queer Eye..." broke the records for BRAVO eith 3.9 million viewers! At that rate, the show will probably become "syndicated' and amy eventually hit the Euro market. I watch it weekly... and find it rather entertaining... much mosre-so than other "Reality TV". The FAB-5 are, indeed "Fabulous". For non-viewers... tune in! |
