Jason grew up in Vancouver, Canada, together with his older sister Justine, mom and dad, but Jason doesn't really want to talk about his childhood or his family.
Jason wanted to be an actor when he was only five years old. When he told his plans to his mom, she said: OK, but you have to take a bath every day. "Hold on", Jason said, "I have to think this over". But taking a bath every day didn't scare him off for so long.
He applied for jobs in commercials and smaller parts in TV-series. When Jason was 13, he stopped being an actor.
"I didn't want to think about my looks all the time. It's not healthy for a young kid to go and worry about a scratch who could ruin your whole career. So I quit".
Jason shaved this head, got a mohikan hair-do and went around in leather jacket, chains and army boots. After high school, Jason gave in for the acting and started taking drama lessons. 1987 did Jason move to California, where he got bigger parts in TV-series.
Finally, he ended up in Beverly Hills 90210. Jason got the part as Brandon Walsh four days before the first episode was about to be shot. The producers, who'd searched for a Brandon, were really happy when Jason showed up.

Jason Priestley Ordered To Get Alcohol Counselling, February 1st 2001
The former TV hunk was given the ultimatum by a Los Angeles judge in connection with a drink-driving charge stemming from a 1999 accident that wrecked his Porsche.
Priestley, 31, completed a five-day work release jail program in Los Angeles earlier this month as part of the sentencing. But at a hearing Tuesday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Randolph Moore ordered Priestley, who is living in New York to show proof he had completed the program by July 2nd.
The actor's lawyer, Peter Knecht says, "Everything's done except the mandatory alcohol program." Priestley pleaded no contest last March to a misdemeanor drunk-driving charge and was sentenced to five days in jail and three years' probation, as well as having his driver's license suspended for a year.

Priestley is listed in serious but stable condition at the Kentucky Medical Center. Though he was an experienced driver, and has raced professionally for the past ten years, Priestley apparently ran over a patch of "oil-dry," an absorbent material used to soak up oil from another car.
The car turned sideways, then corrected and slammed head-on into an outside wall at 180 mph. In addition to his broken back, the 32 year-old actor suffered fractures to both feet and lacerations on the bridge of his nose, left cheek and neck; he apparently did not suffer any paralysis.
Doctors say that, aside from a temporary memory loss from his moderate concussion, Priestley should be able to fully recover from all his injuries.

Priestley spent several days in intensive care before being moved to a rehab unit in Indianapolis where he is still recovering. But despite the 33-year-old's remarkable recovery, he insists he does not remember a thing about the accident.
In his first incident since the smash, Priestley says, "I can't remember much. I know it was a big one. But the most important thing is that I focus on getting better."
